Chalice In The Home Programme

Promoting prayer for vocations is a key aspect of this programme. In this year of Vocation this programme will be developed on a Diocesan level to encourage prayer in the home for vocations and also to let young men see the great support there is in parishes for priests and the priesthood in general.
The programme centres on a chalice which is seen as the symbol of priestly commitment A family or individual takes the chalice home for a week and this is accompanied by a book of prayers and guidelines for usage. The family gather to pray by the chalice, prayers for vocations are included. At the end of the week the chalice is passed on to a new home.
Parishioners give their names to the co-ordinator Miss Pat Smyth who monitors the movement of the chalice around the homes in the parish.
The prayers contained in the booklet are there to guide the user throughout the week when the chalice is in their home.
Parishioners are asked to begin each prayer session with a Prayer for Vocation and end with a decade of the Rosary.

Any Parishioner who would like to be involved in the Chalice in the Home Programme is asked to complete one of the request forms which can be found at the back of the church or in the bulletin and drop this in to the collection basket or alternatively contact
Miss Pat Smyth on 02838 831024
to let her know that you would like to be involved in the programme.
